Awards $500 Langdon Farms/OB Sports Scholarship to Dependent of Farm Cardholder
AURORA, Ore.. – Kelsey Holder was recently awarded a $500 scholarship as part of a value-added benefit from Langdon Farm’s Farm Card program. The scholarships are awarded to the college-bound dependents of the cardholders. Established in 2008, the Langdon Farms/OB Sports Scholarship program was created to provide an opportunity for children of current OB Sports-affiliated cardholders who have enrolled in the Farm Card (Langdon’s popular money saving loyalty program) to apply for a scholarship to be utilized for college tuition. Its purpose is to encourage the attainment of higher education goals by children of OB Sports – affiliated cardholders, based on achieving a high level of academic success during high school or college. In total, twelve $500 scholarships will be awarded from a number of participating OB Sports-managed facilities this year.
“I am very appreciative of Langdon Farms and OB Sports honoring me with this scholarship,” stated Kelsey Holder, who is headed to Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. “This scholarship will help me offset some of first-year expenses – especially helpful considering I am headed out of state.”
Kelsey, the daughter of Farm Cardholder Thomas Holder, achieved a very high level of academic success while attending nearby Wilsonville High School. She maintained a 3.6 GPA and scored 1160 on her SAT’s. Kelsey is also a golfer, and lettered in girls golf each of her four years at Wilsonville High.
“Congratulations to Kelsey,” stated David Raper, general manager at Langdon Farms Golf Club. “We were excited to offer this scholarship and provide yet another unique added value benefit to the popular Farm Card program.”
Ranked as the “#1 best course to hold a golf tournament or corporate event in Oregon” and as the “#2 public golf course in Oregon” (only behind Bandon Dunes) by the Portland Business Journal, Langdon Farms Golf Club is home to 18 holes of stunning golf designed by John Fought and Robert Cupp. Langdon Farms Golf Club opened to rave reviews in 1995 and immediately became a favorite in the Portland area. Over the years, the local, regional and even national golf writers have consistently recognized it as a truly unique golf experience. The “Big Red Barn” Clubhouse, winner of Crittenden Magazine’s “Best New Clubhouse” for 1996, was modeled after the original barn on Mr. Langdon’s farm. The original barn, built in 1916, actually comes into play down the left side of the 8th hole. The Big Red Barn clubhouse, creative signage, theme development, and links-style golf course design and maintenance elements have all contributed to the exceptional reputation of Langdon Farms. The golf facility is open, as displayed at the entrance, to the “PUBLIC ONLY”.
