Golfers can choose from 18 holes on the award-winning Trail Creek Course or a couple turns on the first nine holes of the resort’s brand new White Clouds Course, perched high above the resort and featuring breathtaking, panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

In addition to the much-anticipated White Clouds Course, the iconic resort has recently unveiled the Sun Valley Pavilion, which serves as home to the Sun Valley Symphony and touring classical musicians. A state-of-the-art, 58,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, expanded practice facility and 18-hole putting course – patterned after the Himalayas putting course at St. Andrews and named Sawtooths in honor of a nearby mountain range – are on schedule to open later this season.

The White Clouds Course – designed by Donald Knott of Knott, Brooks, Linn Golf Course Design Group of California – rises up more than 350 vertical feet from the first tee to its highest point and has been referred to as an “Alpine links” layout. The longtime chief architect in the Robert Trent Jones Jr. firm, Knott headed the 1978 redesign of the Trail Creek Course, which helped in bringing a symmetry and valuable knowledge to a pair of very different and unique courses. Trail Creek Course and White Clouds Course couldn’t be more different and therefore more complementary for avid golfers who covet diversity and high quality. While Trail Creek Course sits amid tall trees and tight, enclosed fairways and offers small greens via traditional routing, White Clouds Course offers long-range sight lines, elevation changes, forced carries and large greens.
Off the golf course, Sun Valley offers spectacular entertainment under the autumn sky. Though the world-renowned outdoor summer ice shows that feature Olympic medalists and greats such as Scott Hamilton, Nancy Kerrigan, Sasha Cohen and the Canadian team of Jamie Sale and David Pelletier will be coming to a close Sept. 6, the resort boasts a gun club, horseback riding, miles of marked hiking/biking trails and much more.
