(SUN VALLEY, Idaho) – Sun Valley Resort – North America’s first ski resort and home to an immense array of upscale, family friendly amenities – today announces it will open “The Sun Valley Club” on Wednesday, Aug. 20. A beautiful 58,756-square-foot stone, wood and glass structure, The Sun Valley Club will serve in summer as the pro shop for Sun Valley’s two golf courses – White Clouds and Trail Creek – and the Nordic Ski operations center in winter.
Regardless of season the year-round, indoor golf practice and playing facility enables the game to be enjoyed even when several feet of glistening snow cover the world-renowned sun-soaked terrain outside.
The Sun Valley Club includes four levels – Upper, Main, Lower Level I and Lover Level II – and contains a full service restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating on the three-sided deck. Deck views include the surrounding mountains and the new, 25-acre outdoor practice facility, which includes the new 18-hole putting course named The Sawtooths (reflecting the surrounding mountain peaks of the same name).
Designed by Ruscitto/Latham/Blanton of Ketchum, Idaho, The Sun Valley Club’s main level features a Porte Cochere, Grand Entry, 10,000-square-foot terrace, Outdoor Fireplace, and Terrace Bar outside, and a Pro Shop, Locker Rooms, Merchandise Shop, Bar and Grill, Restaurant, and Lounge on the inside.
Other highlights of The Sun Valley Club include 700 tons of North Star Granite on the outside, Italian and Indian Stone on the inside, 133,000 pavers, two Upper Level apartments, and Butternut wood, a species of Walnut. Two hundred heated parking spaces enable access and ease during ski season, for which the building is ideally designed as the Nordic Ski Staging Center, with rental, repair and storage, and more.
The contractor was Intermountain Construction Inc. of Idaho Falls, and Osborne Tyler Design, Inc. of Sun Valley created the Interior Design, which includes a Board Room, employee locker room, restrooms, and room for a future spa in the Lower Level II.
