CLEVELAND, OH – AUGUST 19, 2008 – VeriShot announces a $10,000 hole-in-one sponsorship of hole number eight of the Desperado course at its client, The Badlands Golf Club, during the PGA Fall Expo Golf Outing on Monday, August 25. Complimentary hole-in-one tickets will be given to PGA Fall Expo attendees. A live video feed of swings taken at the hole will be played during the day. VeriShot is attending the PGA Fall Expo, booth #849, to expand awareness and respond to continued growing demand for its daily monitoring system.
The need for increased golf rounds, profits and competitive differentiation are key drivers for golf course adoption, especially now as the industry is challenged by the current economy and abundance of courses. Until now, hole-in-one and other contests were only offered at outings and events due to their complexity to manage, need for human intervention and the requirement of insurance coverage.
VeriShot has recently signed a number of new golf courses including Stone Mountain Golf Club in Stone Mountain, GA; Badlands Golf Club in Las Vegas, NV; Wild Horse Golf Club in Henderson, NV; and Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Kansas City, KS.
“I feel that we can significantly enhance our golfers’ experience and add more value and excitement at our course with the VeriShot hole-in-one contest monitoring system,” says Dustin Irwin, director of golf operations for Stone Mountain Golf Club. “We also expect this system to increase the number of rounds, golf shop sales and resulting revenue, and the fact that we don’t have to manage the monitoring process makes it so easy,” adds Irwin.
Golf courses sell the experience of the VeriShot Challenge through their daily fee rounds and as part of pre-booked outings and tournaments. The tickets can be bundled or sold individually at the counter for a nominal fee. The golfer receives a ticket with a unique code generated by the VeriShot system. If he or she hits a winning shot consisting of a hole-in-one, closest-to-the pin (within two feet) or within-the-flagstick (within seven feet) the golfer simply enters their code into a keypad at the green. VeriShot will confirm the winning shot and contact the golf course within an hour.. Select videos of winning shots are posted on the VeriShot Web site. VeriShot pays all installation, operation, and program costs and shares ticket revenue with the course. Further, closest-to-the-pin and within-the-flagstick gift certificate prizes are redeemable at the golf shop resulting in additional revenue to the golf course. The course may also take advantage of advertising opportunities on the VeriShot ticket to spur further course or golf shop sales.
“The VeriShot system provides golf courses with the means to differentiate their course and increase revenue with no up-front investment and no operating costs,” notes VeriShot CEO, Dan Quigg. “Since April VeriShot has paid out over 150 prizes including seven hole-in-one shots each awarded at $10,000 as well as golf shop gift certificates, which VeriShot pays directly to the course and helps spur golf shop sales well over the prize redemption value,” adds Quigg.
