ORLANDO – When the SunCoast Ladies Series closed the books on the final round on August 15, 2008, San Diego Golf Academy student Natalie Dotson was holding the coveted SunCoast Series title. With rounds of 72-76-76, Dotson won the event with an eight-over-par 224.
Dotson, a young Amateur from Oklahoma originally gave up competitive golf after a brilliant high school tenure in which she led her Cushing High School Team to four state championships. Instead, she chose to attend the San Diego Golf Academy in Altamonte Springs, Fla., to pursue a professional career in the golf industry.
“This is my first real tournament in several years,” says Dotson. “I did not have any expectations other than just playing well. After I shot even on the first day I tried to block out the fact that I had a three-shot lead and just play my game. Taking the lead into the final round I tried to think of it as an even start. I am pleased with how I played this week and I am looking forward to playing more.”
“We are committed to developing dedicated students in all areas of golf: from the classroom to the course,” says Brad Turner, a PGA professional and director of the SDGA Orlando Campus. “With that in mind, we are extremely proud of Natalie and her outstanding accomplishment.”
