CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation will participate in the PGA’s second annual Patriot Golf Day fundraising event this Labor Day weekend. And, like last year, the club will extend its participation to four days for this charitable event.
From Aug. 29 through Sept. 1, Olde Sycamore will donate $1 from every round of golf to the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides scholarships to families of soldiers injured or killed in the line of duty.
Golfers who want to participate in this worthy cause can do so by simply booking a tee time at Olde Sycamore during the four day period of Aug. 29-Sept. 1. There is no added cost to golfers. However, those wishing to do more may make a donation at the register.
“We were pleased to participate in last year’s inaugural Patriot Golf Day and plan to be a continuous supporter,” said general manager Ted Staats. “It’s really about supporting the United States. Our military personnel are protecting our freedoms and the freedoms of future generations. The event has a lot of momentum and is special to us at Olde Sycamore.”
Patriot Golf Day was started by PGA professional and Air National Guard pilot Dan Rooney of Stillwater, Okla. Last year’s event raised more than $1.1 million, with this year’s total expected to exceed that.
“I heard Mr. Rooney speak recently and it was very powerful. For him to do this for the fallen soldiers and their families is phenomenal,” Staats said.
