In Support Of Patriot Golf Day, Over 30 PGA TOUR Players Are Switching Out Their Cleats For PrideSports’ Red, White & Blue Softspikes Cleats
Brentwood, Tennessee, August 27, 2008 … PrideSports, maker of Softspikes® golf cleats – the world’s best selling golf cleat brand – today announced that in support of Patriot Golf Day, more than 30 PGA TOUR golfers competing in the Deutsche Bank Championship, including several players on top of the FedEx Points list, have switched to the Red, White & Blue Softspikes cleats. In support of the Folds of Honor Foundation, the Company will be making a donation for every golfer that switches out their cleats to PrideSports’ Red, White & Blue Softspikes brand cleats at this weekend’s FedEx Cup Playoff event.
Since June 2008, PrideSports has donated a portion of proceeds from specially-made USA-themed products, sold through the Company’s network of 17 distributor partners in the U.S., back to the Folds of Honor Foundation. In addition to the USA-themed Softspikes cleats, other products include American Flag-printed wooden AmeriTees golf tees, EZ See Ball Markers printed with the American Flag and red powder-coated divot repair tools, also printed with the American Flag.
The Folds of Honor Foundation (www.foldsofhonor.org) is a legacy foundation designed to provide educational scholarships for dependents and spouses of soldiers who are either killed or disabled while serving and defending the nation. The Folds of Honor Foundation was founded by Captain Dan Rooney, an F-16 pilot in the Air National Guard and a PGA Golf Professional. The Foundation’s trademark fundraising and public awareness initiative is Patriot Golf Day, a program that generated more than $1 million to support Military families in 2007, and which is taking place over Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
“It’s great to see an elite group of TOUR players show their support for the Folds of Honor Foundation and Patriot Golf Day by switching out their cleats for a great cause,” said Joe Zeller, President, PrideSports. “We are proud to be a partner of Patriot Golf Day, and it is very rewarding to help raise funds to support Military families and honor the brave men and women who have defended our nation.”
PrideSports was formed in January 2003 following Pride Manufacturing Company’s purchase of Softspikes, Inc., and its sister company Trisport, Ltd. of England. This acquisition essentially formed the world’s premier golf accessories company, as Pride and Softspikes are the world’s leading golf tee and golf cleat lines, respectively. Today, PrideSports is the world leader in the design and manufacture of cleats, spikes and receptacles for the entire golf footwear industry.
