Vail Valley, Colorado — August 29, 2008 — Robert Trent “Bobby” Jones, Jr.’s golf course of choice this Labor Day weekend is Brightwater in Colorado’s Vail Valley. The world-reno wned golf architect will visit his newest Colorado course August 29 and 30, 2008 in celebration of its near completion. Brightwater showcases Jones’ artistry and vision over every inch of its 8,005 yards. Jones himself will give a tour of the course Saturday, August 30, 2008 and offer tips to golfers playing the front nine later that day. The back nine officially opens at the end of September 2008.
Located in Brightwater’s private, gated residential community in Colorado’s Vail Valley, the course beckons players to tee up for a game rich in Western ruggedness, enticing challenges, and natural beauty. Brightwater’s dynamic 18 hole, 72-par course is the fifth longest course in the country. Welcoming golfers of every age and ability, the course has six tee boxes with choices ranging from 8,005-yard professional tees to 5,690-yard forward tees to 2,700-yard family tees.
The fairways weave seamlessly around an original nineteenth century homestead barn, eight lakes, six natural springs, three streams and a one-mile stretch of Gypsum Creek. While the front nine boasts open, prairie-like terrain that often seduces golfers to opt for high-risk-high-reward shortcuts around dramatic features such as Temptation Lake, the back nine increases in complexity as the course climbs 320 feet in elevation to reach 7, 060 feet at its peak. These holes present a different type of intrigue with sage-lined fairways and greens tucked up against sharply rising formations, and the final holes reward players with a sweeping view of the entire property and the surrounding mountains.
Consistent with Robert Trent Jones II design philosophy, the Brightwater course was designed to suit its mountain landscape with playability in mind. The multiple, strategically placed tees on each hole provide alternative lines of play. The low-handicapper may choose a more aggressive line and land in a hazard or native area in hopes of getting an eagle or birdie, while on the same hole, a higher handicapper can take a more conservative approach for a reliable route20to par.
Vail Valley is known for its active golf culture and Brightwater stands out for its seven-month golf season – a full two months longer than most Colorado golf resort destinations. Playing conditions are ideal with 300daysayear of sunshine and a low-humidity climate. Since Brightwater is only a 35 minute drive from the ski slopes of Beaver Creek, many take advantage of an exhilarating ski-and-tee combination with a morning of world-class spring skiing and an afternoon on Brightwater’s fairways. Brightwater’s 6,700-foot elevation and weather patterns make this a reality more often than any course in Vail Valley.
Brightwater, located seven miles from Eagle County Airport, the second busiest wintertime air terminal in Colorado, has direct flights to Dallas/Ft. Worth and Denver year round and direct flights to 18 major cities during high season.
Brightwater offers the consummate home ownership experience in an established, gated residential community in Colorado’s Vail Valley. The property’s 535 homesites span across 963 acres, and countless luxurious activities and amenities are included in the purchase of a homesite.
