Tourneys This Weekend In Illinois, California
ROANOKE, TEXAS (August 18, 2008) – The next-to-last weekend of regional finals associated with the 2008 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship, the premier event in power golf, unfolds September 6-7 at the following sites:
Region 6 – UPPER MIDWEST
The Golf Shack
Rockford, Illinois
Region 11 – FAR WEST
Warner Springs Ranch Resort & GC
Warner Springs, California
Both qualifying sites will host last-chance locals in the morning and afternoon on Friday, September 5.
The schedule for both the Region 6 and Region 11 finals have women’s division and open division competitors on the tee on Saturday, September 6; senior, super senior and grand champions division competitors will be in action on Sunday, September 7.
Top finishers at these regional tournaments advance to the 2008 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship finals, which take place in Mesquite, Nevada on October 20-25. ESPN will debut a 90-minute tournament recap during the Christmas holidays (date TBD).
The 2008 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship has a total purse of $600,000. The open division champion, widely recognized as golf’s biggest hitter, will earn $250,000.
