Course’s Long List of Accolades Grows with Latest Honor
(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) – SouthWood Golf Club – the award-winning public course managed by Billy Casper Golf at the heart of St. Joe’s comprehensively designed SouthWood community – is ranked No. 30 among Florida’s best public-access courses by GOLF Magazine in the September issue.
This marks the first time GOLF – one of the nation’s most widely circulated golf publications – has ranked the best courses in each state. SouthWood is in elite company on the list of Florida’s finest, alongside several hosts to professional tour events and world famous resorts; the state boasts more than 700 public-access courses in all. The magazine’s rankings panel included editorial staff and well-traveled golf industry sources.

Since opening in 2002, SouthWood has consistently ranked as the area’s top course and earned glowing reviews from golfers and media. It was named among the top 10 layouts of the new millennium by Travel + Leisure Golf and claimed a spot on Golf Digest’s list of “America’s Best New Courses.”
Managed by Billy Casper Golf, SouthWood annually hosts the Tallahassee Amateur Championship and serves as a home to the Florida State University men’s and women’s golf teams. SouthWood has also hosted qualifying for the Florida Amateur Championship among other top events.
