Paul Azinger Picks Chad Campbell for Third U.S. Ryder Cup
Expectant father Chad Campbell is a former two-time All-American at UNLV, and this week U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Paul Azinger made Campbell one of his four captain’s picks for the team that will play against Europe later this month at Valhalla in Kentucky. It’s the third-straight Ryder Cup appearance for Campbell, and Azinger is looking forward to having the solid Campbell on the team. “I thought Chad had a little bit of experience, and the fact that Chad played really well this past tournament helped him,” Azinger said in a conference call. “Chad also is a terrific ball-striker tee-to-green, and when I narrowed my list down to three or four players, his name came up a lot. That was important to me. When I started crunching numbers on Chad, knowing his personality and knowing the way he hits it, then after talking to Chad, I knew right away that he was the right guy.” Campbell took part in the conference via phone while sitting in a Dallas parking lot as his wife, Amy, was meeting with doctors about her pregnancy.

NYTimes.com Writer Boasts about Jack Nicklaus’ The Chase
Las Vegas golf course The Chase at PGA Golf Club Coyote Springs is located about 50 minutes north of the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, and according to NYTimes.com writer Joe Passov, it is worth the trip. This Las Vegas golf course opened to the public earlier this year, and is a stunning visual design that blends very well into its desert surroundings. “This is a wonderfully low-key Jack Nicklaus design, with fast, undulating greens, an array of strategically deployed tattered-edge bunkers and just enough bells and whistles in the form of lakes, waterfalls and mountain views to lure potential home buyers to the new PGA Village at Coyote Springs,” wrote Passov, who is also the architecture editor for GOLF Magazine.

Celebrity Sightings: Stephanie Louden, Bill Engvall Tee It Up in Las Vegas
LPGA Tour star and Las Vegas native–she recently moved to Texas with husband Mike–Stephanie Louden was back in town recently and teed it up with her Dad, Larry, at Jack Nicklaus’ Bear’s Best Las Vegas. Louden is a very active member of the LPGA Tour Executive Committee where she currently serves as Vice President. And big-time comedian and television star Bill Engvall, star of The Bill Engvall Show on TBS in addition to his legendary role as part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, played Vegas in more ways than one this past weekend. Engvall headlined the Treasure Island Theatre on Friday night, but spent the day teeing it up at Las Vegas golf course Spanish Trail Golf and Country Club, the private 27-hole facility that lists future Hall-of-Famer Greg Maddux as a member. Engvall made a special trip to Vegas late night on Thursday just so he had time to tee it up.
