New Footwear Combines a Complete Package of Comfort and Stability to Appeal to the Progressive and Classic Golfer
BEAVERTON, Ore. (September 9, 2008)- Nike Golf has introduced two new styles of Men’s Tour authentic footwear – one that offers a complete package for today’s game and the other offering a classic style that is redefined.
Typifying Nike Golf’s complete package for today’s game is the new Nike Air Zoom Elite II, which represents the second generation of the original Nike Air Zoom Elite shoe that has been frequently seen on the feet of many Nike Golf athletes on the PGA Tour in the last year, including K.J. Choi, Stewart Cink and Stephen Ames. Presenting a more classic style in golf footwear is the Air Zoom Tour, which represents Nike’s own interpretation of a saddle golf shoe.
Nike Air Zoom Elite II
As with its predecessor, the Nike Air Zoom Elite II provides a complete package for today’s game by combining comfort, lateral stability and Tour performance with a level of attitude in styling for the progressive golfer.
The most significant distinction between the first and second generation of Nike Air Zoom Elite, is the encapsulated Zoom Air unit, which replaces the caged Zoom Air unit found in the original Air Zoom Elite. The new low-profile encapsulated Zoom Air unit brings the foot closer to the ground (8mm lower). This low-profile, responsive cushioning provides a more stable foundation for greater lateral control that helps facilitate maximum power through the swing.
Product testing at the Nike Sports Research Lab (NSRL) validated the encapsulated Zoom Air unit construction, which revealed that even at 8mm lower to the ground, the Zoom Air unit achieved the same level of heel cushioning as the previous caged Zoom Air construction.
Another distinction of the new Air Zoom Elite II is the caged lateral support system – an exoskeletal webbing that is injected onto the upper lateral side of the shoe. Made of TPU material, the upper caged lateral support system harnesses the foot for improved balance over the footbed, which, with the help of Nike’s updated Nike Power Platform Channel, maximizes power and control. In addition to the aforementioned enhanced technology, the Air Zoom Elite II also offers the following technology benefits:
– Watershield Plus – keeps water out while the foot stays dry and cool. 2-year waterproof guarantee.
– Premium Full-Grain Leather – Soft, supportive comfort.
– Poron Sockliner – Full-length and contoured for instant comfort for the life of the shoe.
– Champ Scorpion Stinger Spikes – Dual durometer TPU for optimal traction, comfort and durability.

Air Zoom Tour
Nike’s Air Zoom Tour, which embodies a Tour-Classic performance saddle, features Nike’s proprietary low-profile Zoom Air Unit in the heel for responsive cushioning with stability. Also promoting comfort is the full-grain leather on the upper portion of the shoe. The high-frequency welding on the saddle creates depth and dimension while harnessing the midfoot. As with the Nike Air Zoom Elite II, the Nike Air Zoom Tour will be worn by Nike Golf athletes on the PGA Tour. In addition to the aforementioned enhanced technology, the Air Zoom Tour also offers the following technology benefits:
– Lateral Support System
– Full-length Phylon midsole
– Full-length Contoured Poron Sockliner
– Nike Power Platform Control
– 2-Year Limited Waterproof Warranty
