Cabazon, CA- The California Golf Course Superintendents Association (CGCSA) has set November 9-11, 2008, for its annual conference which will be held at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, CA, 20 minutes west of Palm Springs. The multi-day conference with its education, trade show, social, and golf tournament components, will attract more than 300 golf course superintendents, suppliers, and industry leaders.
Featured speakers include Mr. Jim Vernon, president of the United States Golf Association, and Mr. Jon Maddern, CGCS, golf operations manager for the City of San Diego and former host of the 2008 U.S. Open Championship at Torrey Pines Golf Course. Also highlighting the conference agenda will be Elizabeth Yura, a representative from the California Air Resources Board followed by behavioral specialist Mr. James Westrick, whose presentation will focus on Ways to Energize the Workplace.
“We are excited about the quality of presenters slated for the conference,” stated CGCSA President Kevin Breen, CGCS. “Featured speakers will discuss a variety of topics including a-behind-the-scenes-look at the 2008 U.S. Open, environmental considerations as they relate to golf course maintenance, and ways to influence change in today’s work environment. The conference will commence with a DPR program addressing labor law, site safety, air quality issues, and respirator compliance, as well as various regulatory updates.”
Not only will the conference provide a solid educational component, but there’ll also be an industry trade show on site for participants interested in learning more about innovative products and services. The agenda also holds social activities guaranteed to raise camaraderie amongst attendees, including a golf championship set for the East Valley Golf Club (Beaumont, CA.).
