(BLOOMFIELD, CT) – Wintonbury Hills Golf Course – managed by Billy Casper Golf – has been ranked No. 2 among Connecticut’s best public access courses inGOLF Magazine’s September issue.
Wintonbury Hills, designed by the legendary Pete Dye, bested 178 golf courses in Connecticut to achieve the ranking. This marks the first time GOLF Magazine – one of the nation’s most widely circulated golf publications – has rated the best courses in each state. The magazine’s rankings panel includes editorial staff and well-traveled golf-industry sources.
Earlier this year, Wintonbury Hills was No. 2 in Connecticut in Golfweek’s “2008 Best You Can Play” state-by-state rankings. The magazine also rated Wintonbury Hills the 10th best municipal golf courses in America, sharing the Top 10 with storied Torrey Pines, Bethpage Black and other hosts of PGA TOUR events.
“Being ranked by such a prominent industry publication is a mark of distinction,” says Doug Juhasz, General Manager of Wintonbury Hills. “We work hard to ensure that every golfer who sets foot on our course is treated to first-class customer service and pristine playing conditions for the best possible experience.”
One of the finest courses in the United States, the 6,711 yard, par-70 layout is replete with stunning vistas of the heavily-treed ridges that surround the property. Wintonbury Hills offers a blend of links-style and forested holes with generous rolling fairways to help navigate the 125 bunkers framing the course. Breathtaking views of the Tunxis Reservoir combined with Dye’s masterful attention to design detail makes Wintonbury Hills a beautiful and challenging test of golf for all player levels.
