Money Given To Fallen Heroes Foundation
Winter Garden, Fla., September 23, 2008 – Orange County National raised $1147 for the Fallen Heroes Foundation on Thursday, September 11 during its annual Patriot Golf Day event sponsored by the United States Golf Association and the PGA of America.
“We are very pleased with the support we received from our golfers and staff for this very worthy cause,” said Bruce Gerlander, General Manager, Orange County National. “Patriot Golf Day is one way for golf courses and golfers around the country to show our appreciation to the many Americans who are on the front lines protecting our freedom.”
In honor of Patriot Golf Day, Orange County National offered golfers a special greens fee rate on September 11 and donated $5 of each green fee to the foundation. Every golfer who played also received a raffle ticket for a limited edition Taylor Made R7 driver with the Patriot Day logo on it. The money will be given to the Fallen Heroes Foundation. The foundation assists the children of soldiers, who have become disabled or died in Iraq or Afghanistan, with educational scholarships and family support. USGA and PGA of America member Dan Rooney, who served two tours of duty in Iraq, was the brainchild of the event.
