New Zealand – SMT Golf captures two more International Long Drive Championship titles, and achieves the unthinkable with three different models in one event.
In spite of a deliberate and powerful headwind, Philis Metti, National Champion, 2006 RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion andNew Zealand World Record holder, cruised to victory with her new SMT Encore club in hand, and outdistanced the nearest competitor by 50 yards with her blast of 283 yards!
SMT Golf then proceeded to grab another Championship title and trophy with Aaron Garnett and his SMT Spectrum’s smash of 292 yards. Aaron liked the fact that the SMT Spectrum head has earned legendary status as the longest driver on any PGA Tour since 2003, and found a bit of that same magic for himself. Davyn Nola, New Zealand’s long drive legend and continual favorite, battled with his trusted SMT 455 Deep Bore, through the entire field to be one of the last two standing. While being edged out for the national title, Davyn was absolutely the show stopper with the longest drive of the entire event at 332.5 yards into that relentless headwind.
