Southern California Retains Top Spot in D-I Poll
NEW YORK, NY-The second Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II and III, will appear in the September 26th issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com.
Southern California remains the number one team in the poll, earning 11 of 25 first-place votes. The Trojans finished second at the Duramed NCAA fall Preview to start the season.
Arizona State jumped from No. 4 to No. 2 with a victory at the Fall Preview. The Sun Devils earned 12 of 25 first-place votes.
Rounding out the top-five are UCLA (No. 3), Georgia (No. 4) and Duke (No. 5).
Virginia (No. 9) and Wake Forest (No. 10) cracked the top-10, after being ranked 14th and 12th, respectively, in the previous coaches’ poll. North Carolina (No. 21) and Florida State (No. 23) moved into the top-25.
