Golfer Wins Largest U. S. Women’s Amateur Golf Competition
Aloha, Ore., September 27, 2008 – Lori Whitaker of Cumming, Georgia, a member of the Atlanta chapter of the Executive Women’s Golf Association has won the EWGA Championship, the largest amateur women’s golf competition in the United States. Whitaker captured the title shooting two rounds of 76 for a 36-hole score of 152. Jewel Malick of Rockwell, Texas and Patty Kimball of Scottsdale Arizona placed second and third.
This year’s two-day championship was held on September 26 and 27 at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha, Oregon with nearly 200 competitors from throughout the United States and Canada.
Winners were crowned in five flights of individual stroke play and a scramble team division (see results below). Now in its 13th year, this annual competition had over2400 participants in 2008, starting with 120 local chapter championships and 15 semi-finals leading to the 36-hole finals.

Since the EWGA started in 1991, more than 100,000 women have benefited from membership in the organization which is dedicated to providing opportunities to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life.
