Norcross, GA (September 30, 2008) – Mizuno, #1 forged iron in golf, announced today that they are launching the Grain Flow Forged MP-62™ irons with breakthrough Dual Muscle technology, for players who covet workability and shot making control. Dual Muscle Technology is the next cutting edge innovation in Mizuno’s long, storied history of muscleback design, and will undoubtedly take muscleback iron performance to the next level. Comprising Dual Muscle Technology is an outer muscle pad which allows for a precisely placed center of gravity, offering enhanced workability and an ideal ball flight, and an inner muscle pad which provides the unparalleled feel and feedback that better players demand.
Along with an extremely consistent and predictable ball flight, the MP-62s with Dual Muscle Technology will deliver the unmistakable feel and precision that can only be attained through Mizuno’s patented Grain Flow Forging. The result is an iron that delivers unmatched workability and feel, making the MP-62 irons the ultimate scoring weapons.
“Mizuno has long been known for the precision, accuracy, and feel that our MP game enhancement line delivers for the better player,” said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Mizuno USA Golf Division. “Innovative Dual Muscle Technology now takes workability and ball control to a level never before seen, and even longtime MP loyalists are going to be blown away by the performance and enhanced feel of these new MP-62 irons.”
Other features of the new MP-62 include a rolled leading edge, aggressively cambered mid-sole, and rolled trailing edge to deliver consistent striking ability from all types of lies, modified U-grooves that produce the ideal spin rate for maximum playability in all conditions, and a durable double nickel chrome plated finish for a player preferred look.
The MP-62™ will be offered in right handed models with True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 and R300 steel shafts for a suggested retail price of $1,100 and also available with Project X 5.5 shafts for $1,200. The exclusive MIZUNO/Golf Pride® M-21 58 Round grips will come standard. (Other shafts and grips as well as length and lies options are available through Mizuno’s Custom Club department.) Mizuno will begin shipping the MP-62™ irons to accounts in September.
