TORONTO, Ontario – Second Skin, one of Canada’s top golf apparel brands is expanding their product line for Spring 2009 offering new natural fabrics with great texture and luxurious feel.
“We have really focused on the elements and details of what has been happening in the marketplace and there is definitely more of a turn to a natural element. Complementing our existing fabrics, we have integrated two natural fabrics, Bamboo and Cocona, into our upcoming line,” said Don Nichols, Second Skin Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
The women’s line has four different shirts and a pallet of colours offering a great mix and match capability throughout all categories.
“We have expanded and renewed our focus on the women’s line with additional styles from shirts through to bottoms,” said Nichols. “We have incorporated a broader bottoms offering including a more traditional capri pant as well as a skort and short.”
The men’s and women’s lines are separated into four distinct product groups and meet a variety of needs: Response, Second Generation, Balance and Shelter.
Response is a versatile layering system made up of Coolon® golf shirts, Drywick zip pullovers and a new S3 zip and jacket. The golf shirts are designed using Coolon, a moisture wicking material that provides unsurpassed moisture management via a six-channel structure. Coolon wicks moisture away from the skin faster than any other technical fabric on the market keeping the wearer comfortable and dry all day long. The zip pullovers and jackets use Hydrawick technology and are suitable for year-round use as they are lightweight, breathable and quickly absorb and disperse heat-generated moisture.
Second Generation is the natural solution in fabric technology and offers shirts and zip pullovers that are weaved from natural Cocona and Bamboo fabrics. Cocona fabric is an all-in-one natural solution that provides the ultimate in comfort and quality. It provides enhanced moisture management with wicking and fast drying properties. It absorbs odors by using an activated carbon built into the yarn while also providing superior UV protection. Bamboo fabric is a natural textile made from the pulp of bamboo grass and is light and strong with excellent wicking properties and is antibacterial.
“Cocona fabrics will retain, or even improve, their performance over the life of the product,” said Nichols. “The technology is permanently embedded into the fabric. Bamboo fabric has been growing in popularity because it has many unique properties and it is more sustainable than most textile fibers.”
Balance provides the blend between golf and life’s activities. These very comfortable jackets, zip pullovers and hoodies can be worn on a golf course or in your off course, active life. The knitted fleece zips and jackets are made with thermal properties that feature technologies that help retain body heat and keep you warm when needed. On the women’s side, Second Skin has incorporated Meryl, a 35% lighter fabric than regular polyamide fiber, into their hoodies and jackets. Meryl fabric still insulates the body against all temperature variations and insures the wearer’s comfort regardless of the weather.
Shelter provides wind and water protection against the elements using Hydrashield and Hydraproof fabrics. The HS 2000 garments are water resistant and highly breathable. The fabric is soft, flexible with a two-way stretch and is quiet without the rustling associated with laminated water resistant fabrics. The ever popular HP 10000 waterproof jacket and pant are once again being offered at unmatched value. These lightweight pieces are made with a 4-way stretch fabric with three levels of water proofing that excel in moisture management.
The company will begin shipping their new line in February 2009 with sizes ranging from S-XXL for men and S-XL for women.
