NEW BEDFORD, Mass., October 12, 2008 – AHEAD headwear and apparel endorsee Retief Goosen will debut the company’s new eco-friendly polo collection at the PGA Grand Slam Of Golf at Mid Ocean Club in Bermuda Oct. 13-15, 2008. The new line, scheduled for delivery to golf shops in November, has enjoyed a strong sell-in this fall.
“The green trend in golf apparel is starting to gain significant momentum and when you combine that with performance, you have a winning combination,” said Jeff Waller, national sales director, AHEAD. “Our sell-in has been outstanding; the accounts like the look and feel of the fabric and are excited to be able to offer their members a complimenting eco-friendly addition to performance apparel.”
Goosen will be sporting an eco-friendly cobalt bamboo charcoal pin dot polo during the Pro-Am on Monday Oct. 13 and the same style but in lime during Tuesday’s first round of the competition. The polos are 52 percent performance polyester and 48 percent bamboo charcoal and feature AHEAD’s “extreme” fit and styling. They are moisture wicking and odor resistant with a UPF rating of 30+.
On the second and final day of day competition, Goosen will debut a new polo and cap from AHEAD’s award winning Hybrid Performance category. He will wear the new black and white Dri-Balance Pima Mesh Bi-Color Polo made of 55 percent pima cotton and 45 percent polyester with a moisture wicking mesh back. Goosen’s performance cap features Coolmax® on the front two panels and visor combined with four panels of moisture wicking material and color block vents.

AHEAD’s eco-friendly collection and new hybrid polos are available in a variety of color patterns and will retail between $45-$65.
The Grand Slam of Golf, a 36-hole event, will kick off with a Pro-Am on Monday, October 13 followed by two-days of competition. The event will be televised on the Golf Channel and TNT. Also in the elite four-player field will be Jim Furyk, who wears AHEAD headwear.
