PGA Tour Legend to Wear Company Logo on Side of Headwear
(Londonderry, New Hampshire) – Renowned Danish shoemaker ECCO announces the extension of its endorsement agreement with PGA Tour star Fred Couples.
As a part of this multi-year agreement, Couples will showcase the brand’s logo on the side of his headwear and continue to exclusively wear ECCO golf shoes during all on-course activities. The 48-year-old American will also appear at company functions and in advertising and marketing campaigns.
“ECCO’s reputation for quality is second to none and I am happy to continue our relationship,” says Couples. “To me, comfort is key to success on Tour and with these shoes I know I am able to play my best.”
During his illustrious 28-year professional career, Couples has won 15 PGA Tour events, including the 1992 Masters. The two-time PGA Tour Player of The Year is also a five-time member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team and will serve as Captain of the U.S. team during the 2009 President’s Cup.
“Fred continues to be one of the world’s most recognized and popular players and has been a great ambassador for the ECCO brand in recent years,” says Jesper Thuen, Sponsor and Event Manager, ECCO Golf. “We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with him as he guides the President’s Cup team and continues his Tour success.”
ECCO is preferred by international Tour stars Colin Montgomerie, Stuart Appleby, Aaron Baddeley, Thomas Bjorn, Thongchai Jaidee, John Bickerton, Steven Jeppesen, Juli Inkster, Carin Koch, Pat Hurst, Sophie Gustafson, Meena Lee, Candie Kung, Linda Wessberg, Wendy Ward and others.
All ECCO designs blend a network of built-in technologies to create the ideal platform for the perfect swing. Principal among these is a direct-injected, PU-constructed midsole/outsole. Made from a process unique to ECCO in the golf industry, this:
Creates a one-piece shoe construction
Ensures unrivaled durability, flexibility, lightness and weather resistance
Provides a superior level of cushioning and comfort that does not break down over time, unlike commonly-used materials such as air, rubber and EVA foam
Additional performance features of the golf collection include:
Ultra-soft, high-grade leathers with hydrophobic treatments for superb weather-resistance
Internal stabilizer to reduce torque and create ideal swing stability
Double-layer insole with cushion that absorbs heel force to reduce stress on the knees, hips and back
Internal Air-Circulation System to maintain a fresh, dry and cool foot environment
Dynamic Energy Return System that provides a trampoline effect during foot-strike and follow-through to reduce fatigue and restore energy with each step
Green-friendly outsole designs featuring molded traction bars combined with Stinger cleats from Champ and the Q-Lok insert system to provide ideal traction and grip
