Events Promise Exciting Formats for Professionals and Amateurs
(WATERSOUND, Fla.) – Camp Creek Golf Club — the award-winning Tom Fazio design developed by The St. Joe Company and located along Northwest Florida’s stunning Gulf Coast – will host the PGA Dixie Section Team Championship, October 27-28, and the Anchorage Children’s Home Tournament on November 3.
The PGA Dixie Section Team Championship, sponsored by Town Talk headwear, Cutter & Buck and the PGA TOUR, will pit two-man teams of PGA professionals and apprentices from the Dixie Section covering Alabama and Northwest Florida. (Each team may have one out-of-section PGA member.) The day one format calls for nine holes of scramble and nine holes of modified foursomes play, while day two will feature 18 holes of four-ball stroke play. The field is limited to 50 teams.
This marks the fourth time Camp Creek has hosted the PGA Dixie Section Team Championship, one of many professional and high-level amateur tournaments held at the course since its opening in 2001. The course hosted a U.S. Open qualifier in 2007 and U.S. Amateur qualifiers in 2006 and 2008, and is regarded as a strenuous test from the 7,159-yard back tees. The Anchorage Children’s Home Tournament is in its fifth year at Camp Creek and expects another full field of four-person teams. All proceeds benefit the Anchorage Children’s Home in Panama City, which has provided a safe haven to more than 29,000 children and their families in Bay and surrounding counties over the past 25 years. Call 850.763.7102 for entry information or visithttp://www.anchoragechildrenshome.org/whatsnews.php for more on the charity.
“We’re proud to once again host these events, which always provide a lot of fun and excitement,” says Will Hopkins, General Manager at Camp Creek. “The PGA Dixie Section Team Championship is a great showcase for our course and the players really enjoy the unique format. Of course, the Anchorage Children’s Home Tournament is a wonderful opportunity to support the organization’s valuable work.”

About Camp Creek and the WaterColor Inn and Resort Golf Collection
Since opening in 2001, Camp Creek has been consistently cited as one of Tom Fazio’s most thought-provoking, aesthetically-stunning design credits. Featuring a unique “dunescape” appearance, the course was created as a private club for members who are owners in select St. Joe communities and resort guests of St. Joe’s WaterColor and WaterSound Beach resorts. Camp Creek, along with St. Joe-owned Shark’s Tooth and The Origins Course, form the exclusive “golf collection” of the WaterColor Inn and Resort. From the back green tees, the course plays to a championship caliber yardage of 7,159 and a formidable slope rating of 152. Camp Creek’s five-tee configuration, which also includes gold (senior) and red (women’s) tees, accommodates players of all skill and experience levels. Travel + Leisure Golf cited Camp Creek as “Florida’s No. 1 Course of the New Millennium.” It has also been recognized for its environmental stewardship through designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS). Superintendent Larry Livingston was similarly distinguished as a certified Audubon Steward. Camp Creek is operated by Troon Golf, the leader in upscale golf course management.
