Six golf courses and seven hotels enlist to offer special packages at GolfOnTheReady.com or 800-577-3787
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (October 22, 2008) – As proud home of the 82nd Airborne, Fayetteville is America’s first name in defense. This is truly a city that knows what it means to be ready at a moment’s notice.
In that same vein, six of Fayetteville’s finest area golf courses and seven of its best hotels have enlisted in a new marketing campaign called “Golf – On the Ready” to offer some of the fastest tee times, best deals and easiest accommodations along I-95 and the East Coast.
The Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has partnered with GolfSwitch to help plan golf missions to the Fayetteville area with a custom golf reservation and package builder found online at GolfOnTheReady.com or by calling 800-577-3787.
Davis Love III, Dan Maples, Ellis Maples, Stewart Gooden, and Willard Byrd – some of golf’s top commanding officers – have left their legacy in Fayetteville with a variety of challenging and unique Fayetteville golf course designs that offer every golfer a chance to earn their stripes.
Anderson Creek Golf Club, Bayonet at Puppy Creek Golf Club, Cypress Lakes Golf Course, Keith Hills County Club’s Creek and River Courses and King’s Grant Country Club have joined ranks with area hotel partners Baymont Inn and Suites, Doubletree Hotel, Hampton Inn Spring Lake, Holiday Inn Bordeaux, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Spring Lake, Red Roof Inn and Wingate Inn by Wyndham.
Packages start as low as $210 per person for three rounds of golf and two night accommodations.
Named North Carolina’s Best New Course in 2001, Anderson Creek is Davis Love III’s first signature course in his native North Carolina. This traditional layout reflects all that is great about golf in the renowned Sandhills – rolling emerald fairways lined with longleaf pines, natural areas highlighted with love grass and perfectly manicured course conditions. The greens feature large roll-off areas and significant undulations that offer a glimpse into the classic Donald Ross architecture seen throughout the region.
Bayonet Golf Club at Puppy Creek is a Willard Byrd design sculpted through the rolling hills surrounding Puppy Creek. With five sets of tees, this championship course has been created for golfers of all skill levels. Bayonet also offers the region’s largest and best conditioned practice area, including a 20-acre golf practice facility featuring 10 target greens and a short-game area.
As an original home to the Floyd family (the brother and sister tandem of Raymond and Marlene) and located just off I-95 exit 41, Cypress Lakes challenges and delights the most avid golfers with championship-caliber greens and prime playing conditions nurtured over the past decade. Stretching from 5,800 to 7,000 yards, Cypress Lakes is an extremely fair course to play with no blind shots to the greens.
Keith Hills Country Club has long been a hidden treasure in the Southeast and serves as the home venue for Campbell University and numerous amateur events. North Carolina Magazine has rated its Creek Course, designed by Ellis Maples, as high as the state’s seventh-best public golf course. The newer River Course, designed by Dan Maples, opened in Fall 2002. Keith Hills boasts large, bent grass greens and rolling, plush fairways as it winds through a golfing community set on the Cape Fear River.
King’s Grant provides a unique blend of fun and challenging holes with many elevation changes and a strong emphasis on shot placement and accuracy. Voted the Readers’ Choice Award Winner as the best golf course in Cumberland County by the Fayetteville Observer, King’s Grant offers gently rolling bent grass greens and five sets of tees to provide maximum enjoyment for all golfers, including NCAA Division III power Methodist College. Two beautiful cypress lakes, frequent natural areas, and well-placed bunkers keep the golfers attention as they tour around this scenic layout.
