#1 Brand on Tour Wins on PGA, LPGA, and EU PGA Tours
Marlborough, MA-October 27, 2008 – The #1 Brand on Tour, CHAMP Spikes, reigned supreme this weekend with victories all around the world. CHAMP Spikes could be seen atop the leaderboard on the PGA Tour in Arizona, the LPGA Tour in China, and the EU PGA Tour at the Castello Masters in Spain.
Sunday, at the Frys.com Open in Scottsdale, Arizona, the 38-year-old victor, wearing CHAMP’s Scorpion Stinger Spikes™, tapped in a par putt on the second playoff hole to complete a big comeback over his nearest competitor. Coming into the tournament, the champion was 175th on the money list and 447th in the World Golf Ranking; with this victory, he is propelled into the top 150 on the money list earning him a two year exemption on tour. Overall for the weekend, an astonishing 85% of the players who wore CHAMP spikes chose them over the spikes that originally came in their shoes.
This weekends LPGA event took the ladies to Haikou, Hainan Island, China, for the inaugural Grand China Air tournament. The champion, along with CHAMP Scorpion Stinger Spikes, shot a final-round 7-under par 65 to complete a five-stroke come from behind victory over her competitors.
The Castello Maters in Spain saw its inaugural event won by a hometown hero. Sporting the golf industries only hybrid spike, the CHAMP Pro-Stinger™, the 28 year old Spaniard captured his first European Tour event since 2005 shooting a 4-under par 67 and a three-stroke victory over his nearest competitor. Overall 70% of the field chose CHAMP ProStinger™, Scorpion Stinger™ or Cermec® Spikes for their traction needs.
