Cook’s Win is the Third Global Victory for Nike’s New Victory Red Irons Due in Stores on November 1
Nike Golf athlete John Cook benefited from Nike’s Tour-inspired Victory Red (VR) irons by winning the A&T Championship just one week before the new Nike irons hit the market on November 1. En route to his first win of the season on the Champions Tour, Cook produced impressive rounds of 69 – 63 – 65 and finished tied for fourth in greens in regulation averaging 79.6%. Cook, who switched to Nike’s new VR Forged TW Blades at the Senior Open Championship in August, has described the new VR irons as “awesome.” Cook adds that “the feel of the VR Blades are unlike any other blade.”
The VR Forged TW Blades feature a more traditional muscle back design that include a conspicuous and recognizable “TW” mark. Made of 1025 Forged Carbon Steel with a CNC milled face, the VR Forged TW Blades differentiate from Nike’s original Blades with a more modified backpad and a slightly thicker toe. Rounding out Cook’s Nike arsenal is his Nike SQ Tour driver and Nike ONE Platinum ball combination which continues to carry the torch as the winningest driver/ball combination on the PGA Tour. Cook also played with the Nike SQ II 13-degree fairway wood.
In the last three years, Nike Golf has led the PGA Tour in iron wins and with the early success of the VR irons, this momentum promises to continue.
