Hunter Mahan captures the first Kiwi Challenge

Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand: Hunter Mahan waited until the last six holes of the inaugural 36-hole Kiwi Challenge to put on the type of Genuine Performance that has become his signature on the PGA Tour. Trailing fellow Americans Anthony Kim and Brent Snedeker by four shots on the 13th tee at the spectacular Tom Doak-designed Cape Kidnappers above Hawke’s Bay on New Zealand’s North Island, Mahan proceeded to birdie not only the 13th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes, but he threw in an eagle at the 16th.

Mahan’s dramatic 30 on the back nine and a course record 65 enabled him to tie World #8 Anthony Kim and force a playoff. Mahan then closed out his 2008 Ryder Cup team mate on the second playoff hole to win the $1.5 million first prize. Snedeker finished third and Aussie star Adam Scott fourth. The made-for-TV event, played at American billionaire Julian Robertson’s Cape Kidnappers and Kauri Cliffs resorts, will air on Nov 15-16 on NBC in North America and in 78 countries worldwide on Sky Sports.

“Hunter’s performance in New Zealand is just typical of the drama and flair that he brings to the game of golf,” said John Whitney, Sundog Eyewear Vice President of Product Development and Production. “Hunter works closely with us developing his line of Sundog Eyewear, and we knew from their debut at the Ryder Cup that his 2009 H Signature Series sunglasses perform as well on the course as they had in the lab. Hunter proved it again wearing his H Signature Series in the Kiwi Challenge. We’re looking forward to a great year for Hunter and his H Signature Series in 2009.”

The Sundog Eyewear 2009 Hunter Mahan H sunglasses feature 8-base de-centered polycarbonate lenses, and all models feature ultra-light MaxFlex Rilsan frame. The H Series, in four frame/lens color options, will be available soon at fine pro shops and golf retailers worldwide.

The 2009 Hunter Mahan H Signature Series is just part of the Sundog Eyewear Genuine Performance line that includes the Paula Creamer Collection and Mike Weir’s Weir Golf Signature Series.
