Goosen Plays the TaylorMade TP Ball with LDP Technology to Win Iskandar Johor Open; Ryan Palmer Secures PGA Tour Card Playing Tour Burner Driver
CARLSBAD, Calif. (November 3, 2008) – TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professionals Retief Goosen and Ryan Palmer both relied on TaylorMade® and adidas Golf equipment in their victories on the Asian and the PGA Tours yesterday.
Goosen overcame a four-stroke, final-round deficit and posted a 6-under 66 to win the Iskandar Johor Open. Playing the TaylorMade TP ball with LDP technology, the two time U.S. Open champion began his rally with an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole. He also carded four more birdies en route to the victory.
“I got off to a great start when I holed my third shot at the fourth which really got my round going,” said Goosen. “I had a nice yardage of 69 yards to the flag and hit it a perfect 60 degree wedge and hit it left of the hole and spun it in. That was a good hole.”
TaylorMade’s LDP technology promotes improved distance on the most common driver off-center hits and helps make TaylorMade TP balls (including TP Black™ and TP Red™) exceptionally resistant to the effects of headwinds and crosswinds. Learn more.
With the win, Goosen has now picked up at least one win every year since 1995. It was Goosen’s fourth victory on the Asian Tour and his 29th international title.
In Palm Coast, Florida, Palmer broke a six-way tie with a key birdie on the 18th hole to win the Ginn sur Mer Classic and earn a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour by leaping 70 spots on the money list to No. 73.
Playing a TaylorMade Tour Burner® driver, Palmer drove the ball an average of 286 yards in weather bad enough to halt play in the final round twice*. TaylorMade Tour Staff professional Vaughn Taylor finished second using a Tour Burner driver, and placed 10th in driving distance averaging 291 yards off the tee**.
