Named #1 Best Golf Course in Medford Mail Tribune annual reader’s poll
MEDFORD, OREGON – The John Fought-designed Centennial Golf Club in Medford, Oregon was named as the “Best Golf Course” in the Mail Tribune’s annual reader’s poll published on October 26, 2008. One of the region’s longest running newspapers, the Medford Mail Tribune newspaper has been serving Medford, Ashland, Jacksonville and most of Southern Oregon for nearly 100 years. In their annual readers poll Centennial topped all other courses, ranking ahead of Eagle Point Golf Course and Rogue Valley Country Club.
“Our vision from the start was to create a premier golf experience for the region,” states Tom Becker, president and CEO of Pacific Retirement Services, Inc. “This recent honor validates those efforts and is a true testament to the dedication of the team to create the top golf experience in Southern Oregon,” added Becker.
Centennial was also honored as having the “Toughest Golf Hole” in the region as the par 4, third hole took top honors in this category. The third hole is the #1 handicap hole at Centennial and stretches to 452 yards from the back “black” tees. The 233 yard, par 3, fourth hole was also included as a runner up in this category.
“We are very pleased that readers of the region’s most popular newspaper have responded so favorably ranking Centennial as the Best Golf Course,” said Orrin Vincent, CEO and founder of OB Sports, the management company at Centennial. “Hats off to the entire team at Centennial for consistently exceeding the expectations of area golfers in all departments – from our golf professionals to our agronomic team and everyone in between. Congratulations to all involved.”
