Tom Fazio designed; public premium golf course earns national recognition
El Paso, Texas, November 7, 2008 – Butterfield Trail Golf Club, a Tom Fazio-designed public premium golf couse in El Paso, Texas, was recently recognized by Golfweek Magazine as #28 on their list of the “50 Best New Courses.” The ranking was the highest for any course in the state of Texas.
“We are pleased to see Butterfield Trail Golf Club among the top best new courses in Golfweek’s Magazine and consider this a compliment for the City of El Paso” said Pat Abeln, Director of Aviation at El Paso International Airport.
After opening in June, 2007, Butterfield Trail Golf Club has quickly become a premium golf destination in the Southwest. The golf course is designed at a par 72, 7,307 yard layout from the champion tees. The property exceeds over 175 acres including natural areas, featuring over 55 feet of elevation changes. Butterfield Trail is the only public premium Tom Fazio-designed course in Texas.
Developed and owned by El Paso’s Department of Aviation, and managed by KemperSports since its opening, Butterfield Trail Golf Club is complemented by a spacious practice facility and an 8,800-square-foot clubhouse which is available for catering and private parties. Fazio’s design takes advantage of the distinctive desert topography, including natural sand dunes and native flora and fauna, which highlight the Southwest’s natural beauty. The 18-hole, public golf destination serves as a high-end golf amenity to the airport’s surrounding property and business as well as a catalyst for future commercial development.
In addition to golf, Butterfield Trail is also home to Salida Del Sol, a full-service restaurant and bar serving breakfast and lunch daily to golfers and non-golfers alike. Salida Del Sol offers indoor and outdoor patio seating as well as happy hour specials seven days a week.
