Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey Finds Magic at Disney World After Visiting RIFE Putters Tour Performance Studio

November 12, 2008

Sanford, FL – Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey, best known for his appearance on The Golf Channel’s hit reality TV show ‘The Big Break’ and his two gloved baseball grip, has shown that dreams really can come true at the PGA Tour’s Children’s Miracle Network Classic held at Walt Disney World in Florida this past weekend.

Coming into the event, Gainey was ranked 198th out of 200 in putting stats on the PGA Tour. With his Tour card for next year all but gone, Tommy decided to make a visit to the new RIFE Putters Tour Performance Studio in Sanford, Florida to work exclusively with RIFE Putters’ PGA Tour Rep Ed Roge. Ed has worked with some of the best players in the world and after helping Tommy with his alignment and fitting him correctly for a putter everything just seemed to “fall into place.”

Gainey returned to Disney World with his newly fitted RIFE Barbados putter and proceeded to finish #1 in Putts Per GIR and #3 in Putts Per Round to capture a 2nd Place Runner-Up Finish, just 1 shot behind the leader.

In his press conference, Gainey attributed his success this week to his visit to the RIFE Putters Tour Performance Studio and working with Roge on his alignment.

After the event, Tommy commented, “I went to the RIFE Studio and got fitted for a putter….the putter I was putting with, the 35-inch putter was too long. So I switched to a 34-inch putter, and it got my eyes over the ball a little better, and I was seeing the lines better, hitting the lines better. And everybody knows when you see the line and you hit the line, you make a lot of putts.”

Gainey, who had only $65,405 in total earnings heading into the final event of the year, shot 30 on the back nine for a an 8 under par 64. His paycheck of $496,800 moved him from No. 228 to No. 148 on the Tour Money List, securing conditional status on the PGA Tour in 09′ and earning him an exemption to the final stage of Q-School. The almost 100 place jump is the largest move up the money list in the final event of the year in PGA Tour history.

“It’s success stories like this that will help spread the word about the level of service we provide to both the public and the Tour Players who visit us at our brand new Putting Studio,” said Matt Molloy, President & CEO of RIFE Putters. “This is a great ending to great year. We captured 14 wins overall and two-thirds of the time we were #1 on the Darrell Survey making us the #1 Putter on The Champions Tour for 2008. Congratulations to Tommy on an amazing week and a big thanks to all of the Tour Players who chose to play a RIFE putter in 2008…their success week in and week out on Tour has helped make this a record breaking year for us!”

About RIFE Putters

All of RIFE’s Putters, including the new Two Bar Hybrid, are high-end CNC milled putters that offer the same patented RollGrooveTM Technology and patent pending Lie-Aline System.

RIFE Putters, LLC is the true innovator behind horizontal grooved face putter technology with a patent on specifically sized grooves since 1997. These precisely spaced grooves allow the putter to gently press into the cover of the ball and grip and lift it into an instant forward roll. Guerin Rife states, “just as grooves in irons help control spin so do grooves in a putter face.” Other companies are now trying to imitate this patented technology but the spacing of the grooves is the true key to the gripping and lifting effect of grooved face putter technology. Horizontal RollGrooveTM faced putters create the truest “no skid” roll in golf no matter where you hit the ball on the putter face.
