UCLA Remains Top Team in D-I Poll

NEW YORK, NY-The fourth and final Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II and III, can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com. The polls will also appear in the Nov. 28 issue of Golf World.

UCLA ends the fall as the number one ranked team, earning 18 of 20 first-place votes. The Bruins won three times and finished in the top-five in all four of their starts. They finished the fall with a 34-1 head-to-head record versus Division I opponents and a 23-1 record versus top-25 teams.

Arizona State finished in the number two spot, earning one first-place vote, after winning the NCAA Fall Preview at Caves Valley GC, the site of the 2009 NCAA Women’s Championships, and the Auburn Derby Invitational.

Southern California, the defending NCAA champions, was third, earning one first-place vote. The Trojans didn’t win a tournament in the fall, but finished second three times.

Oklahoma State (No. 4) and Virginia (No. 5) round out the top-five.

Pepperdine had the biggest jump, moving from 14th in the last poll to 10th in this week’s poll. The Waves had a record-setting victory at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown last month.

Michigan State (No. 20) and UC Irvine (No. 24) moved into the top-25.
