Mesa, AZ – Dixon Golf announced today that their 100% Eco-Friendly Earth Ball will be the “Official Golf Ball” of the egolf Tarheel Tour for 2009.
The egolf Tarheel Tour is a Charlotte, NC-based professional golf tour that has conducted tournaments in the Southeast since its inception in 2002. The tour features approximately 20 professional tournaments annually with purses ranging from $220,000 to $300,000 and field sizes from 156 to 240 players. In its seven-year history, the tour has seen the likes of Will MacKenzie, Jason Bohn, Steve Marino, Tommy Gainey, Matt Bettencourt and others ascend to the PGA Tour, while over 250 past egolf Tarheel Tour players have gone on to play on the Nationwide Tour.
In 2009, the tour will join in the “green” initiative by layering in product, practices and incentives for its more than 350 projected members in order to create a positive environmental impact in the arena of professional sports.
“We’re very pleased to be the Official Ball of the egolf Tarheel Tour,” said Dane Platt, President of Dixon Golf. “It’s exciting to be associated with a developmental Tour like this where future PGA Tour superstars hone their skills and pursue their dreams. The list of alumni is an impressive one. We’re proud to be associated with this organization and excited about the exposure the Tour will bring to our brand.”
David Siegel (President of the egolf Tarheel Tour) quotes:
“We at the egolf Tarheel Tour are excited to be on the front lines of the green initiative and hope to set an example that other sports organizations can follow,” said David Siegel, President of the egolf Tarheel Tour. “For many years, the number of golf balls in circulation has been staggering, so we feel that Dixon’s environmentally-sensitive approach to producing a ball that can be recycled is an exciting advancement in the industry. We are thrilled about this partnership with Dixon Golf as we combine our reach in the golf industry with their eco-friendly golf ball in order to create a better product and produce more exposure for the green initiative.”

Dixon Earth – Good For The Environment…Better For Your Game!
Unlike other Golf Ball Brands who use harsh heavy-metal pollutants like tungsten, cobalt and lead, and contain non-renewable synthetic materials and compounds; the Dixon Earth golf ball is “green” to the core. The Earth core is made from a proprietary polymer that maintains the playable properties of the ball, but ensures that it is 100% renewable. Even the packaging is made from 100% recycled material. From core to cover, from packaging to production, Dixon Earth is setting a new standard in environmental consciousness.
Amazingly; Dixon didn’t have to sacrifice playability to become environmentally friendly. Just the opposite, the Dixon Earth golf ball actually out-performed several three piece urethane cover balls in competitive testing!
