Just five weeks after his second career Japan Golf Tour victory and first victory as a professional, Yonex Tour Professional and teenage superstar Ryo Ishikawa has moved up to 66th in the latest World Golf Rankings.

Ishikawa, who turned pro in January 2008, achieved superstar status in Japan when he won the Japan Golf Tour’s Munsingwear Open KSB Cup as an amateur at 15 years and eight months in May 2007.

Over the course of the last six weeks, Ryo has taken the golf world by storm by winning the Japan Golf Tour’s Mynavi ABC Championship with a thrilling final round come-from-behind victory. He followed his victory with a T5 at the Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Pacific Masters, 2nd at the Dunlop Phoenix and a T13 at the Casio World Open becoming the youngest Japan Golf Tour player to surpass $1 million in earnings.

Ryo fired a final round 3-under 69 to finish T5 with 2008 Masters Champion Trevor Immelman at (-12) at the Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Pacific Masters.

In route to his 2nd place finish at the Dunlop Phoenix, Ryo shot rounds of 72 (+1), 67 (-4), 70 (-1) and 68 (-3) for a final score of (-7).

Ishikawa finished ahead of World-Class players like Ernie Els (#8 World Ranking), Henrik Stenson (#12 World Ranking), Ian Poulter (#24 World Ranking) and Brandt Snedeker (#58 World Ranking).

On his performance at the Dunlop Phoenix, “I played really well,” said Ishikawa. “It was a good experience for me to play in a field that has some of the world’s top players and I hope they remember my name.”

Since November 2nd, Ryo’s World Golf Ranking has jumped 63 spots from 129th to 66th. He has also moved up to 5th on the Japan Golf Tour’s Money List.
