First-of-its-kind Golf Instruction Partnership with Two World Renowned Leaders – Dave Pelz and David Leadbetter
Palm Beach Gardens, FL (December 9, 2008) – PGA National Resort & Spa has announced a new partnership with the top two golf instructors in the world, Dave Pelz and David Leadbetter. The result, the “PGA National Golf Academy” will be a first-of-its-kind golf instruction program. The two esteemed leaders in improving the golf game of professionals and amateurs alike will both be opening schools on the grounds of the legendary 2,340 acre resort complex this fall. PGA National will be the first location to be home to both of these elite instructional programs.
Dave Pelz, the world’s foremost authority on the short game and putting, has been relied upon by top playing professionals including Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh and Mike Weir. Pelz Golf Institute Research has proven that golfers lose almost eighty percent of their shots to par inside of 100 yards from the hole. To that end, the Pelz curriculum focuses strictly on what Dave defines as “The Scoring Game.”
Known as the “Father of the Modern Golf Swing,” David Leadbetter has taught some of the greatest players in the world including Ernie Els (2008 Honda Classic champion), Nick Price, Trevor Immelman, Greg Norman and Charles Howell III. With the first Academy opened in 1983, the David Leadbetter Golf Academy now provides amateur golfers access to world-class instruction in 13 countries around the globe. The Leadbetter golf instruction philosophy offers a blueprint for improving the game of golfers of all ages and abilities.
Both top coaches employ an elite team of instructors who have completed the teaching legends’ rigorous training and certification programs.
One, two and three day programs will be offered by both the Dave Pelz Scoring Game School and David Leadbetter Golf Academy, which will each be housed in their own facilities at PGA National Resort & Spa. Golf instruction programs will be available to individuals, groups and corporations, accommodating both resort guests and non-guests.
PGA National has played host to more professional golf tournaments than any other resort in the country and is current home to the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic. Five championship courses, including the famed Champion course, home of The Bear Trap, are complemented by a stunning 381 room resort. A recently completed $65 million renovation has given PGA National a refreshing facelift including a contemporary new front entrance, lobby, lounge and restaurant in addition to a brand-new lush resort pool, upgraded dining and meeting locations and new member’s clubhouse.
Committed to “creating championship experiences” and making PGA National the best golf destination in Florida, the new ownership, which acquired the property in 2006, is on a quest to complete a stunning rebirth of the resort. “We want professional and amateur golfers, as well as our non-golfing guests, to know that PGA National Resort & Spa retains its rich history and that we’re investing in a compelling future” said resort Vice President and Managing Director, Joel Paige. “We can think of no better way to signal an even higher level of golf excellence, than inviting Leadbetter and Pelz to join together and form the PGA National Golf Academy.”
