NORTHBROOK, Ill., December 11, 2008 – Two of KemperSports’ premier properties have been honored by Golf Digest in its upcoming January 2009 issue. Named America’s Best New Public Course of 2008, Chambers Bay is located in suburban Tacoma, Wash. The course is a Robert Trent Jones Jr.-Bruce Charlton design that has already been named to host the 2015 U.S. Open and the 2010 U.S. Amateur. The award is the second “Best New” win for the course in the past three years, the sixth overall for Jones, and their first design to host an Open.
In addition to Chambers Bay, Butterfield Trail Golf Club, the Tom Fazio-designed championship caliber course which, in January, was also named to GOLF Magazine’s “Top 10 New Courses You Can Play.”
The awards are the latest of many achieved by these two courses since their respective openings.
