(Grand Rapids, Mich.) As the song reminds us, this is the “most wonderful time of the year.” So in keeping with the holiday spirit, the West Michigan Golf Show compares popular yuletide song titles to an update about the upcoming 21st annual show set for Feb. 13-15, 2009 at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids:
Joy to the World: In spite of the rocky economy, booth space for the West Michigan Golf Show is running ahead of last year’s pace when the floor space sold out in January.
“Our exhibitors realize times are tough but they also know golfers will keep the game a part of their lives,” says Show Manager Carolyn Alt. “And the Golf Show is an ideal place to find affordable golf, vacations and equipment to meet any budget.”
Deck the Halls: Hundreds of booths will pack the halls of DeVos Place and offer everything about golf for the coming season. There will be courses, top-rated resorts, golf equipment & merchandise at bargain prices, clinics and fun interactive areas for the entire family. Last year, a show survey indicated 67% of attendees came to the Golf Show for travel and vacation information while 77% came to purchase golf equipment.
Do You Hear What I Hear? It’s not a rumor; it’s a fact: Treetops’ Rick Smith, one of the game’s premier instructors, will be giving clinics on Friday and Saturday at the main stage and will enlighten and entertain golfers with his expertise. “I’m eager to get back to Grand Rapids and be a part of one of the best golf shows in the country,” said Smith, ranked # 8 on Golf Digest’s “50 Greatest Teachers in America” list. PGA Tour players such as Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Lee Janzen, Rocco Mediate, Jerry Kelly, Chris DiMarco, Matt Kuchar and many others have sought Rick’s advice and guidance.
Let it Snow: The weather in February may be frightful but inside at DeVos Place it will be delightful as free golf lessons will be provided by PGA pros courtesy of Boyne USA and the Michigan Section PGA. Let the pros show you how to keep a “snowman” off the scorecard.
Winter Wonderland: A fully landscaped Par-3 hole will again challenge thousands of golfers attempting to win $25,000 in cash by a timely ace on Sunday. And in the process they’ll raise needed funds for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
All I Want for Christmas: Ever a popular show perk, a free sleeve of Srixon golf balls will be given to the first 100 people each day or with an online ticket purchase. So here’s a perfect stocking stuffer: buy an advance ticket online now at westmichigangolfshow.com and receive a free sleeve of Srixons at the Show.
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus: Friday night at the Golf Show will be “Ladies Night” filled with seminars, giveaways for women, and special events, including the 4th annual Executive Women’s Golf Association fashion show.
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas: Show sponsors wish West Michigan golfers both a joyous holiday and an early spring. They include Treetops Resort, Golf Association of Michigan, Odawa Casino Resort, Boyne USA, the Michigan Section PGA, and Srixon.
And finally…Over the River and Through the Woods: Located along the Grand River, Devos Place in downtown Grand Rapids remains the place to be in February for winter-weary golfers with thoughts of a rejuvenated Tiger Woods dancin’ in their heads.
