December 18, 2008 (Oakbrook Terrace, IL) Zero Friction staff player Kenny Perry continued his impressive 2008 run with a victory at the Merrill Lynch Shootout on Sunday. Along with playing partner Scott Hoch, Perry posted rounds of 65-60-60 (-31) in both alternate shot and better ball formats. It was Perry’s second Merrill Lynch Shootout win, with the other coming in 2005.
With the victory, Kenny Perry and Zero Friction cap off the most successful season of their partnership. Perry’s previous wins this year were at the Memorial Tournament, Buick Open, and John Deere Classic. He was also a member of the victorious U.S. Ryder Cup team which defeated Team Europe in his home state of Kentucky in September.
“It’s no secret that Kenny has had an amazing year,” said John Iacono, Founder and C.E.O of Excel Golf Products, Inc. “I know that he’ll carry this year’s success over into 2009 and I’m looking forward to continuing our successful partnership.”
The Zero Friction Performance Golf Tee has a unique three-pronged design that significantly reduces the contact area between the ball and tee at impact. The tees have also accounted for over 50 professional victories and more than 250 top-ten finishes.
For the 2008 season, Kenny Perry ranks 33rd in total driving distance on the PGA Tour. He averaged 296 yards per drive and hit 836 fairways. Perry also finished 2nd in regular season FedEx Cup Points.
