Singh And New Launcher Win Chevron World Challenge

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (December 22, 2008) – Cleveland Golf/Srixon and Never Compromise congratulate Vijay Singh for his victory at the 2008 Chevron World Challenge. Solid play from his new Launcher driver helped Singh cap off his most lucrative golf season ever on Sunday, but it was his Never Compromise putter that helped him drain the 11-foot birdie on the final hole to secure his one-shot victory. He began the final-round trailing Jim Furyk by two shots but Singh’s second consecutive 5-under-par 67 in the final-round allowed him to bypass Furyk and claim his first Chevron World Challenge title.

“I had a new driver, so it’s always a risky thing to do when you are starting a tournament,” said Singh. “But I played really well. I hit the ball very good off the tee, and I think the key for this golf course is keeping the ball in play. There’s a lot of trouble around if you don’t hit a good shot off the tee.”

The victory added another $1.35 million to Singh’s earnings for 2008, pushing the total to over $18 million. Singh has won 57 tournaments worldwide, including 3 majors, and over $60 million on the PGA Tour alone. He has also won 23 times since turning 40, and his career victories on the PGA Tour are the most by a foreign-born player.

Singh played the new Cleveland Launcher driver, a Launcher Steel fairway, CG Tour irons, CG12 wedges and a Never Compromise GM2 Exchange putter. This victory also represents the first PGA Tour win for Cleveland Golf’s new Launcher driver.
