LAKE MARY, FL — The 16th Annual ING Media Awards Presentation Press Conference will be the first of several spotlight functions for the International Network Of Golf at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.
First-Place Finishers and Outstanding Achievers in 13 categories will be announced and recognized at the presentation, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29 at 12:30 p.m. in ClubING (Room 309-A) at the Orange County Convention Center. Todd Lewis of The Golf Channel will be master of ceremonies. The presentation is open to all media covering the PGA Show, ING members and their guests.
The International Network of Golf is a 19-year-old a non-profit networking organization whose mission is to enhance communication and education in golf. Anyone in the golf industry, or any media member who covers golf, is invited to join.
An independent panel of three judges in each category determines the Media Award results. Judges use a point system with several criteria. Selections are made by judges without knowledge of the person responsible for the work, or of the other judges in the category. A category chairperson coordinates each category.
First-Place Finishers will receive beautiful statues from Heritage Creations USA, and Outstanding Achievers receive plaques. Categories are: • Travel Writing, Apparel Writing, Competition Writing, Instruction Writing, Business Writing, Photography, Equipment Writing, Illustration, Book, Television, Profiles, Radio and Opinion Writing.
Player’s Pass and Sunbuster return as sponsors of the ING Media Awards. Player’s Pass is one of the industry’s longest running discount golf programs, with connections at thousands of courses nationwide. Half-priced green fees and last-minute discounts of up to 60 percent are available year-round.
Sunbuster’s PuttReaders™ glasses reduce the amount of green the eyes see in a putting green. This brings out the browns, blacks, yellows and reds, the colors the brain needs to read putts better. Sunbuster’s state-of-the-science, multi-layer SolaRex™ lenses block 100% of UVA/UVB rays.
There are several other events taking place at ClubING during the PGA Show. Another highlight is the 16th Annual ING Industry Honors Presentation Press Conference Jan. 30 at 12:30 p.m. Nominees in 12 golf business-related categories will be recognized, and winners announced in this awards ceremony, known by many as “the Academy Awards of the golf industry.” Golf commentator Mary Bryan will serve as master of ceremonies.

• Explanar Teaching Clinics at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily with PGA Master Professional Luther Blacklock.
