The Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of Northern California‘s 2009 Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony is set for Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Presidio Golf Club in San Francisco, Calif. … The 2009 Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Fitness Summit will be held on Sunday, Jan. 18, at the Four Seasons Resort and Club in Irving, Texas. The event is open to junior golfers who would like to learn the importance of health and fitness as it relates to preventing injuries and improving golf performance. … Club Management magazine announces that Global Golf Advisors is co-sponsoring the 2008 Club Executive/Manager of the Year award with executive search firm Kopplin & Kuebler LLC. The 2008 winner is G. Mead Grady. … The Carolinas Golf Association announces the schedule for its annual series of USGA Rules of Golf Seminars. The scheduled 17 seminars are free of charge to attendees, who will view a narrated computer presentation on the basics of the Rules of Golf followed by question and answer sessions. For information on the seminars, visit www.carolinasgolf.org. … Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck, located in Colts Neck, N.J., announces the appointments of Linda Everk as director, membership and marketing, and Grace Muchiri, director, sales and catering. … Lebanon Turf pledges its support of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America by committing to participate in the association’s Partner Recognition Program at the silver level. … A recent survey by Wrigley’s Doublemint gum reveals that preparing for an athletic event, can be more stressful for everyday athletes than a trip to the dentist’s office, public speaking and being late to an important meeting. Sixty-seven percent of everyday athletes who chew gum said they chew to relieve stress for a sporting event and 59 percent of everyday athletes who chew gum admit that they did so when they needed to focus on their event. Sixty-nine percent of golfers said that chewing gum can improve focus and concentration. … The Honolulu Star-Bulletin reports that Vijay Singh will have knee surgery following this week’s Mercedes-Benz Championship and will miss up to five weeks of the PGA Tour season. … The Carolinas PGA Section announces the seven sites throughout North and South Carolina for the 2009 Play Golf America Day season. The days are designed to provide free instruction to golfers of all ages and skill levels, introduce new golfers to the game and provide equipment testing. WilsonMcGuire has represented the Wyndham Championship since 2007. … A pre-qualifier has been scheduled for amateurs wishing for a spot in the Champions Tour’s SBS Open at Turtle Bay’s Monday Qualifier. The pre-qualifier has been scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8, on Turtle Bay Resort’s George Fazio Course.
