Next Generation Pro V1 and Pro V1x Golf Balls Offer More Distance and Durability

Fairhaven, MA (January 9, 2009) – As the 2009 PGA Tour season gets underway this week at the Mercedes-Benz Championship on Maui, so does the Tour introduction of the New 2009 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls. Of the 20 players teeing up a Titleist at Kapalua’s Plantation Course, 10 of them are relying upon the New Pro V1 or Pro V1x for the first time in PGA TOUR competition. The New 2009 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls are engineered for longer distance and greater durability. New 2009 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls will be available in golf shops in February.

Among the players trusting the new golf balls are Kenny Perry (T2) and Davis Love III (T3), who shot 68 and 69, respectively, relying upon the New Pro V1x for their opening round success. To see an exclusive interview with Davis Love III describing the performance attributes of the New Pro V1x, please visit: http://www.titleistblog.com/

Below is a list of the players putting the New 2009 Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf balls in play this week:

Overall, more players are once again trusting their games to Titleist golf balls than any other. In fact, Titleist is the most played golf ball at the limited-field event with 20 players (61%), more than three times the nearest competitor with 6. First round leader, Geoff Ogilvy, who fired a 6-under par 67, plays the Pro V1x.

Titleist is also the choice of more players in the driver (Tied with 10), fairway metal (17), iron (11), wedge (36) and putter (13) categories – a sweep of the major equipment categories at the first event of the season.

The field at the Mercedes-Benz Championship is limited to those players who won an official PGA Tour event in 2008. Of those players, 10 are Titleist Brand Ambassadors, that is, in addition to playing the Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, they also rely upon Titleist golf clubs throughout the bag. Titleist Brand Ambassadors playing at Kapalua include:
