New Logo and Membership Options Introduced

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, January 13, 2009 – 2009 brings a colorful new look to the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) with a fresh logo, an “initials-only” name and numerous new ways to connect women to learn, play and enjoy golf for business and fun.

With vibrant green letters and a stylized woman golfer and club in warm red and orange, the new EWGA logo gives a fresh face to this 18 year young association. Designed for a powerful yet feminine look with a modern edge, the logo has a tag line of “Connect – Learn – Play – Belong™” reinforcing the organization’s updated vision of enriching the lives of women through golf.

“The transition to the use of the acronym EWGA is designed to take the intimidation factor out of the ‘E’ word,” says Pam Swensen, CEO of the association. “We serve a diverse, international membership and welcome every woman interested in the game of golf.”

The re-branding of EWGA coincides with the rollout of a five year plan developed through the association’s strategic planning process. Three new categories of membership are being introduced — student, virtual and corporate – with the goal to build the organization to over 30,000 members in the next five years.

EWGA Student Membership

Offered to full time undergraduate and graduate students, an EWGA student membership gives them access to a nationwide network of business women and local opportunities to hone their business golf and networking skills. For the EWGA, students have the potential to become active, dedicated members, bringing leadership and association experience that begins at the start of their careers. Student membership applications can be downloaded online at: http://www.ewga.com/become_a_member/join_now/.

EWGA Virtual Membership

This online-only option is designed to appeal to those interested in something other than the local EWGA chapter experience yet seek an avenue for social networking, and a variety of golf experiences. It will appeal to members of private clubs, those who live outside of a chapter area and those on hiatus from active participation in golf due to life or health circumstances. The virtual membership program will be introduced later this year.

EWGA Corporate Membership

For large corporations who recognize the value of encouraging their women employees to pursue the game, the association is offering corporate memberships for 10 or more members. EWGA executives and leaders also are available to speak to corporate groups on the importance of using golf for business. For more information on corporate membership, contact Becky Macaluso, Managing Director, Chapter and Member Services at becky_macaluso@ewga.com

EWGA Classic and Executive Distinction Memberships

Offered for the past several years, these options both include membership in the national association and one local chapter along with a wide array of EWGA benefits.

The Executive Distinction level includes complimentary general grounds admission to LPGA Tour events and exclusive EWGA On Course invitation-only golf events at elite venues and five-star golf resorts. These events provide unique opportunities to participate in innovative two-day golf experiences complemented by networking and resort-style luxury.

“Our five year plan calls for reaching out to new markets and that is reflected in our expanded membership categories,” says Swensen. “We also will focus on finding new ways to support our chapters, building EWGA brand awareness and being an advocate for positive change on issues of importance to women golfers.”

Since the EWGA started in 1991, the association has enriched the lives of more than 100,000 women, connecting them to learn, play, and enjoy golf for business and fun. EWGA chapters provide a wide range of golf, social and networking activities for both new and experienced golfers. A welcoming environment, golf education and player development, and organized play programs are part of the many benefits of EWGA membership.

A 2008 survey of EWGA members conducted by the PGA of America found that the average EWGA member plays 32 rounds per year. EWGA members spent an average of $4296 on golf activities, merchandise and golf related travel, with each local EWGA chapter annually generating $602,900 in golf related spending. With over 125 chapters throughout the United States, as well as international chapters in Canada and France, the EWGA represents nearly $75 million in revenue to the golf industry.

The EWGA is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. For more information about the association and membership, visit www.ewga.com.
