Revolutionary Practice System Recognized for Outstanding Industry Contributions and Consumer Appeal

(ATLANTA, GA) – National Golf Products (NGP) – developer of products that make real practice more affordable and accessible – announces its revolutionary practice system, THE Golf Mat, has received the 2008 “Research and Development” Award from ScoreGolf magazine.
Presented by ScoreGolf Business & Equipment Analyst Rick Young, the award recognizes NGP for improving practice methods by offering a safer, cost-effective “true grass” alternative to traditional mats. The only synthetic surface that duplicates the sensation of hitting balls off real grass, THE Golf Mat encourages a proper “down-and-through” motion, mitigating the likelihood of injury.
“THE Golf Mat demonstrates outstanding function and R&D on a product with multiple consumer and industry applications,” remarked Young. “After hitting off these mats, golfers – no matter the ability level – will quickly experience and feel the difference.”
Endorsed by PGA Tour star Vijay Singh, THE Golf Mat boasts a lifespan of roughly 200,000 swings, twice that of conventional mats. Utilizing a patented, high-tech composite spring embedded below fairway-length turf, it helps players lower scores by facilitating proper trajectory and ball control.
“Our system represents a paradigm shift in the way people practice and the support we’ve received at the highest levels of the game is simply tremendous,” says Jon Leven, CEO of NGP. “For years, the poor quality and unrealistic characteristics of traditional mats have simply been accepted. Players no longer have to waste time and money while developing bad swing habits.”
In winning, THE Golf Mat bested products from Bag Boy, Puma, Sun Mountain and TaylorMade. The full roster of 2008 Equipment & Business Awards are available at http://scoregolf.com/blog/rick-young/2008/December/My-2008-Equipment-Business-Awards.cfm.
Developed using feedback from PGA Tour players, leading teaching professionals, college coaches and top-flight amateurs, THE Golf Mat was recently selected as “preferred practice surface” by the PGA of America. It has been installed at the award-winning Valhalla Golf Club, as well as PGA Golf Club, PGA Country Club and the 35-acre PGA Learning Center at PGA Village.
Among the many prestigious clubs, facilities and universities that use THE Golf Mat and other NGP products are Ansley Golf Club at Settindown Creek (GA), Black Diamond Ranch (FL), Cog Hill Golf & Country Club (IL), Coyote Ridge Golf Club (TX), Doral Golf Resort and Spa (FL), Harvey Penick Golf Academy (TX), Muirfield Village Golf Club (OH), Reynolds Plantation (GA) and the University of Notre Dame (IN)

About National Golf Products
The only company completely dedicated to providing golfers worldwide with a system of products that makes real practice fun, affordable, accessible and much more productive, NGP was founded in 2007 by Leven and company President Joseph Switzer.
Drawing from extensive and successful entrepreneurial backgrounds, the pair introduced THE Golf Mat in 2007. This was followed by The Radar, a portable and affordable ball flight monitor that accurately records shot distances from 10 to 400 yards by taking 100,000 measurements from the moment of impact.
Suitable for use on the range, on the course or with a hitting net, The Radar allows players of all ages and abilities to practice more efficiently wherever and whenever they want. It can be used in conjunction with THE Golf Mat to form the ultimate practice system.
