Lindley wins inaugural Lija honor

January 14, 2009

(Vancouver, BC, Canada) – Popular activewear designer Linda Hipp announces that her company, LIJA, has named LPGA Tour star Leta Lindley winner of its inaugural Tour Style Leaders Program Grand Prize valued at $25,000.

Lindley was one of eight Style Leaders on the LPGA, Futures or Ladies European Tours who participated in LIJA’s unique sponsorship program, which included an extensive apparel-only endorsement and the opportunity to compete for the Grand Prize. Her stellar 2008 season included a victory at the LPGA Corning Classic and a top-40 money list finish.

Honored for her on-course performance, brand fit and several other factors, Lindley receives a cash bonus and an apparel sponsorship for 2009. The 36-year-old mother of two will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip for a style / design consultation with Linda Hipp and be included in future LIJA photo shoots, marketing and PR initiatives.

“Winning the Style Leaders Grand Prize is the perfect way to cap an amazing season highlighted by my first LPGA Tour win,” says Lindley. “LIJA is a lifestyle brand designed to take women from one activity to the next, and like most, I do so much more than golf. At the end of the day, I am a woman, a wife, a mother a daughter and a friend. I just happen to be a successful golfer.”

In addition to Lindley, the 2008 Tour Style Leaders included Courtney Erdman, Jennifer Greggain, Brenda McLarnon, Jane Park and Georgina Simpson, among others.

“Our Tour Style Leaders Program has been a tremendously successful initiative and we’re proud to partner with such passionate, inspired women,” says Hipp. “Leta’s dedication to living, playing and looking her best make her a superb ambassador for our brand.”

For Spring 2009, LIJA has launched new Active, Leisure and Tennis collections to coincide with an expansive range golf and sportswear pieces. The brand is a staple in finer golf and non-golf retailers across North America, including world-renowned resorts and clubs like The Riviera Country Club, Kiawah Island, The Greenbrier and Whistling Straits.

Individually, Linda Hipp has been honored as a grant recipient of the Matinee Fashion Foundation Award, which annually recognizes and funds select Canadian designers, and voted a “40 Under 40” winner by Business in Vancouver.

An avid and highly-skilled golfer, Hipp struggled to find on-course apparel that meshed with her off-course fashion sensibility. Recognizing a market opportunity — and the chance to combine her passions for fashion, golf and business — Hyp Golf was launched in July 1997. The company re-branded as LIJA in late 2004. Chiefly influenced by both European trends and West Coast style, Hipp has garnered a widespread reputation as one of North America’s hottest sportswear designers.
