New York, NY January 2009 – For Fall 2009, Jack Nicklaus Sportswear, the iconic golf lifestyle brand, launches a rich autumnal collection featuring tonal diamond and argyle patterns with color ways inspired by the dramatic and varied landscapes of four Jack Nicklaus-designed courses. Highlights of the new collection include the introduction of PrimaLoft technical fabric into the Performance 18 collection and Signature reversible luxury knitwear pieces.
Performance 18 features technical fabrics that incorporate UV protection and Coolplus® technology. New for the season, a revolutionary Italian merino wool sweater utilizes PrimaLoft technology, blending ultra-fine PrimaLoft fibers and soft merino wool for enhanced insulation benefits. These highly lauded yarns are positioned along two panels on the front and back of the torso where the body most quickly loses heat. A brightly colored array of 20 solid performance shirts feature the Golden Bear icon on the back yoke. New performance crewneck t-shirts allow for a sporty layered look. For those who appreciate classic styling but crave a more tailored fit, Sport Fit offers a shorter body, shorter sleeves and a shorter placket in performance fabrications, highlighting a new bold color block stripe pattern for fall. In outerwear, a black and grey plaid puffy jacket is water resistant as well as warm and durable.
The Signature collection is comprised of luxurious golf lifestyle product crafted from the purest natural fibers. For Fall 2009, this assortment features double-mercerized cotton knits in stripes and solids with fresh sportswear details such as contrast stripes underneath polo collars. Reversible silk and cotton vests in an argyle jacquard fabrication feature easily removable labels and feel great against the skin. Other sweater styles include merino sweaters with color contrast inside the collars, merino wool-plated argyle vests, an ombre stripe against a jacquard diamond pattern and a quarter-zip, all-over argyle. Trousers are impeccably tailored out of100 percent super 100’s tropical virgin wool. Black-and-white, houndstooth trousers add a fashion element to the bottoms assortment. A stylish cotton ottoman barracuda jacket with knit cuffs is a stand-out outerwear piece.
Featured heritage pieces include a polo brandishing boldly retro geometric engineered stripes in aqua and white, just like Jack wore to glory at the 1991 Senior PGA Championship. Another anticipated addition to the heritage group is the merino argyle Heritage Sweater in a new black-and-white color way. Jack Nicklaus Sportswear continues to highlight the importance of color with deliveries inspired by the distinct landscapes of four Jack Nicklaus-designed courses. The New Course at Grand Cypress Resort features aqua and clearwater blue, celebrating the clear Florida skies. A plum, bellflower and baja blue group reflects the canyon-like arroyos and craggy rock outcroppings that populate the coastline of The Ocean Course at Cabo Del Sol. Dismal River Club in the Sandhills of Western Nebraska is unique for its striking natural contrasts and an incredible back-porch bonfire, inspiring shades of port wine and midnight blue. The Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club, marked by the Buckeye colors of scarlet, grey and white, brings one back to Jack’s championship days as a collegiate star as well as the emotional memory from the Fall of 2006 when the Golden Bear famously dotted the ‘i’ in script Ohio at halftime of one of his alma mater’s sold-out football games. All Jack Nicklaus Sportswear products are backed by the Hartmarx commitment to quality and excellence. The Hartmarx Corporation produces and markets business, casual, and golf apparel for both men and women through a broad range of retail channels.
