FORT WORTH, Texas – Jan. 15, 2009 – Golf’s leading innovator of graphite golf shaft technology, UST® (United Sports Technologies) today announced that PGA Tour veteran Stewart Cink has joined the UST Tour Staff. A winner at last year’s Traveler’s Championship playing graphite golf shafts designed and manufactured by UST, Cink will play the company’s all-new Proforce® AXIVCore™ shaft in his Nike driver and fairway woods.

A long-time player of UST high performance golf shafts, Cink won more than $3.9 million on tour last year, and is ranked 16th in the world, according to Official World Golf Ranking. Cink has five career victories on the PGA Tour.

“Stewart is a tremendous player who has played very consistent golf throughout his career. We are extremely proud to have a player with his character representing our company and our products,” says Gene Simpson, UST’s chief operating officer. “From a product standpoint, we are proud that Stewart has trusted our graphite golf shafts to compete at golf’s highest level.”

The new Proforce AXIVCore Series integrates a true weave – four-axis material – within the inner walls (shaft core), providing stability and consistent recovery at impact – a design which makes the AXIVCore shafts unlike any other shaft in the world. This unique counter-balanced shaft also reduces club heft that helps players generate more clubhead speed which translates to more ball velocity and greater distance.

AXIV Technology in the Proforce AXIVCore is a UST exclusive, proprietary process of weaving specific high-modulus carbon fibers in the critical four axis directions necessary in shaft design to optimize stiffness, hoop strength, and torsional resistance. The shaft resists deformation and returns the shaft to a round shape faster than other shafts on the market. The Proforce AXIVCore Series features a Blue, Tour Black and Tour Red models, and will be available in multiple weights and flexes to fit various swing profiles.

Along with Cink, high performance UST graphite shafts are trusted by some of the world’s top players, including UST staff players Davis Love III and Rod Pampling.
