Highly Acclaimed Private Golf Community Represents Florida’s Finest
Scottsdale, Ariz. (Jan. 19, 2009) – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce it has been selected to manage Black Diamond Ranch, a highly acclaimed private golf community located in Lecanto, Fla.
With a stunning natural setting to highlight the artistry of course designer Tom Fazio, Black Diamond’s 45-hole golf complex has been consistently rated among the world’s best. From the dramatic Quarry course, which was recently ranked No. 6 in the country and No. 1 in Florida on Golfweek’s “Best Residential Courses” list for 2009, to the rugged Ranch course and unique Highlands course, Black Diamond offers golf at its finest.
“Black Diamond is an exceptional private golf community,” stated Hud Hinton, president and COO, Troon Golf. “We are honored to have been selected by them and are confident that our management practices will contribute positively to the experience of the members and guests.”
The stunning Quarry course, transformed from an old limestone quarry, is consistently recognized as one of America’s greatest. The course features 80-foot cliffs, dramatic elevation changes, classic bunkering, and fairways framed with thousands of beautiful live oaks, dogwoods, myrtles, and magnolias. The Ranch course was carefully crafted to blend into its natural surroundings, reminiscent of Pine Valley. The Ranch course sports rolling fairways and dramatic elevation changes of more than 100 feet, as well as numerous two-tiered greens that place a premium on distance control for approach shots. With stunning hilltop views of up to 25 miles, the nine-hole Highlands course is poised on the highest point at Black Diamond. The course favors an old-fashioned running game, with slightly crowned greens and undulating fairways.
“One of the secrets of Black Diamond’s success in becoming the No. 1 golf community in Florida is that we pull the natural environment into the foreground and push the ‘built’ environment into the background,” stated Stan Olsen, president and developer of Black Diamond Ranch. “We believe Troon Golf’s professional management skills will add to this success and will be beneficial to our members and guests.”
The community was originally developed with golf, rather than real estate, as the priority. This is evident in the way the home sites have been masterfully planned to blend into the landscape without interrupting the design of the golf course. Both the residential villages and the course layout take advantage of the areas expansive sand hills, large oak trees, tropical vegetation, and the temperate climate.
