Las Vegas PGA Tour Pros Tee Off But Chris Riley Sits With Injury
Several of the PGA Tour pro golfers with ties to Las Vegas started the 2009 season at the Sony Open in Hawaii January 15-18, but former UNLV All-American Chris Riley wasn’t one of them. Riley, who qualified via the 2008 Q School, has a stress fracture of the 4th metatarsel of his left foot and most likely will miss four weeks. The other Las Vegas pros in the field were residents Alex Cejka, Bill Lunde, Scott Piercy, and Dean Wilson. Former UNLV Rebel Adam Scott finished second in the tournament.

Golf Notes: Gulbis Parties, TPC LV Deal, Tour Tees Off
Las Vegas golf notes this week include Las Vegas golfer Natalie Gulbis partying in Las Vegas and looking forward to a big year on the LPGA Tour; a nice golf deal at the PGA Tour’s TPC Las Vegas golf course where a foursome can save up to $400; and the PGA Tour season kicking off with Las Vegas golfer Adam Scott in the field of the Mercedes Championships. In a recent story this writer wrote for VegasGolfer Magazine, Natalie Gulbis’ instructor–Las Vegas’ Butch Harmon–said that in 2009 she will be longer, stronger and better than ever. Gulbis, who lives on Reflection Bay Golf Club at Lake Las Vegas Resort, is 100% healthy and hitting it longer than ever. Recently, Gulbis celebrated her 26th birthday at Blush Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas.
