BALTIMORE, MD. – January 15, 2009 – STX, world-renowned as an industry pioneer in putter innovation, and for its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, announced today that the company will be introducing some new and exciting products under the guidance of a new management team.
STX revolutionized the golf industry with the first soft face elastomer putter insert that minimized skid and increased top spin like no other putter before it or since. Over the past two years, STX has undergone an intensive R&D effort to develop and refine a series of its revolutionary product technologies and offerings built around the company’s unique chemistry expertise.
The 2009 STX product portfolio will be an example of the company’s quest for excellence. Honoring the man behind the artistry, the first of two new series of STX Putters will be named the Bob Engman Signature Series. Both the “Envision QC” and “Envision TR” exhibit form as well as function and are slated to be formally introduced in the spring of 2009.
The second core component to the new STX line will be the reinvention of the popular Key Putting System™ that pioneered adjustable inserts and weights for putters. The new Key Putting System™ for the first time makes it possible for golfers to make quick and easy adjustments to their putter through interchangeable faces and weights. The ability to adapt the putters feel and response according to personal preferences and course conditions is a huge advantage and will be available in all of the new 2009 STX Key Putting System Series.
Leading STX into its next quarter century is the company’s new director of Golf, Steve Henneman. This appointment and the subsequent launch of its new line of putters represent an expansion of the STX brand. With Steve’s guidance, the company has focused its efforts on its core strength – research and development.
A former college golfer, Steve has over ten years of sales, marketing, manufacturing, and product development experience. “I am elated about this opportunity. STX and its team have a great heritage for delivering innovation. The number one goal here is to improve your game. The new putters this year do just that. I am confident that with them, and the exciting product innovations that we have in the pipeline, STX will be an exciting product at both retail and on Tour,” stated Henneman.
About STX:
STX is acknowledged as being the golf industry’s foremost authority on insert face technology. Over a quarter century ago, the company introduced the first patented soft face elastomer insert, creating the “softest legal face in golf.” In the mid-90s the company’s research and development team introduced the first USGA approved interchangeable face insert and removable weight system. Both these and other innovations have helped create the standards for putter design today.
Behind the company’s uniquely styled putter heads is Robert “Bob” Engman, STX Putters’ Chief Club Designer. A world-renowned sculptor with works in the Hirshhorn Museum, the Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, Bob is also a three-time senior champion at Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia.
When Bob blends his skills with the STX engineers, the resulting putter design is a true work of art featuring face insert technology and the ultimate in performance.
